Dilation & Evacuation
(D&E)  The woman's cervix is dilated; then the abortionist
inserts a pliers-like tool, using it to grasp the baby's arm or leg. He
tears it off and removes it. He does this limb by limb, piece by piece,
until the entire body has been removed. After the operation, to ensure
that the entire body has been removed, the doctor pieces the baby's body
parts back together, as if he were working a puzzle. |
Prostaglandin A Prostaglandin drug, which
is similar to the RU-486 pill, is available as a suppository or as an
intramuscular injection. The drug forces the pregnant woman into violent
labor. The trauma of the labor is usually enough to kill the baby.
However, many babies are delivered moving and crying: the major
"complication" of this type of abortion is live birth. Babies born
alive are set aside in a bucket or cold, metal pan to die of suffocation
(from undeveloped lungs), starvation, and dehydration. |
| Saline Procedure A large needle is inserted into the womb, which
injects a poisonous saline solution around the baby while sucking out the
amniotic fluid, which is what the baby "breathes" while in the womb. The
baby's skin is painfully singed, and his lungs, throat, and nose are
severely burned as he breathes and swallows the solution, slowly poisoning
his blood system. Within 48 hours of the procedure, the woman "expels"
