Stop UW-Affilated Medical Center from Doing Abortions
Throughout the years that abortion has remained legal in the United States, some have been willing to risk arrest in order to save the lives of those sentenced to death at abortion mills across our land. Others have protested in less confrontational ways, but to no avail. But the easiest, quickest, surest, and by far least expensive method to eliminate abortion (and every moral problem within our society), lies right before us, yet few have the courage to use it. One of the most practical steps we can take in standing for life is to spend our money in ways that won’t profit the abortion industry, and dry-up its money line. We must begin to recognize abortion for what it is – an industry.
There is one course of action in which everyone who is concerned about our Christian culture can participate, young or old, rich or poor. It is a silent, peaceful, protest practiced in the privacy of your own home. It is the power of the boycott! Why pay funds into a corrupt system when you can hit them right where it hurts most, in their pockets. This is the only thing many of the heads of these companies understand.
If we discontinue buying products or services from firms that advertise in liberal magazines, these immoral publications would soon go bankrupt or change their political policy. It’s that simple and that easy! If enough of us would cancel subscriptions to local newspapers we would find an immediate turn-around in liberal editorials. Are you sick of local radio and television stations pumping our air-waves full of atheistic wise-cracks? Then stop spending your money with their sponsors, and let them know why. There is no mystery behind this common sense reaction. It is a travesty of Christianity to find church attending people supporting an AIDS Ride or vacationing at Disney World, which is blatantly over-run by homosexuals. There are Christians who send a check to a pro-life organization and then shop at a store that supports Planned Parenthood.
Our protest should begin within the medical field itself.
Since 1988 pressure from pro-life people has helped push nearly 50 percent of hospitals allowing abortions into discontinuing this practice. Refusals from nurses to participate in abortions can have a significant impact. This is because hospitals are anxious to settle abortion disputes without going to court. As a matter of conscience, would you feel comfortable being treated in, or volunteering your help to, a hospital that receives income from the grotesque slaughter of late term abortions?
In the Bible there are approximately 500 verses concerning prayer and faith but more than 2,300 regarding money. There is a reason Jesus talked more about money than anything else. “For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also” (Matt. 6:19-21). He admonishes us not to give something of value to people who will not appreciate it for they may use the gift to destroy the giver (Matt. 7:6).
Boycott UW and Meriter Hospitals and Clinics
In the name of all that is civilized, humane, and within reason, we ask you to help us stop the slaughter that is to take place within the jointly owned Madison Surgery Center located at 1 S. Park St., in Madison, WI. Pre-born babies that could survive outside the womb of their mother will be ripped apart, and brutally killed at this death mill if you and I do not act – and act now!
What you may not know is that there is something everyone can do to stop the killing at these extermination camps, and we have been informed that hundreds of local soldiers in the army of God have already started.
Although we both have serious health problems, Sue and I have transferred our health care to a Madison hospital that does not allow abortion and – so can you. We have been told that so many people are canceling their medical appointments at UW and Meriter that they have had to readjust their schedules. Abort is about money so we must dry up the source. If at all possible:
1. If you are a patient at one of these hospitals or clinics, please consider transferring your health care to a hospital and clinic that does not participate in abortion, and alert the management of the hospital you are discontinuing as to why you are taking this action.
2. If you are with an insurance plan that uses only UW hospitals and clinics or Meriter, consider carefully what options you have. We have heard numerous stories of people who have said they will go without insurance before they are forced to use one of the culprit institutions. I am hopeful that we as Americans are not so tied to our insurance plans that we cannot make clear decisions on moral issues. Some insurance companies have had so many people calling, and refusing to use these facilities, that they have had to call an emergency meeting to discuss the matter. So, don't think your calls and decisions aren't making a difference!
3. Stop volunteering at these death mills.
4. Stop donating to them in any way, directly or indirectly.
5. If you are an alum of the UW (any campus), let the UW know your opinion on the decision. Express what you will stop doing or start doing as a result of this decision. For example, no more money, no more student referrals, etc. Direct your emails, letters and phone calls directly to Chancellor Carolyn "Biddy" Martin, who voted in favor of this plan. Chancellor Martin's contact information is below:

6. If you are a doctor practicing in Wisconsin, please consider following the example of other doctors who have contacted us saying they will no longer do referrals to a UW hospital or clinic, Meriter or the Madison Surgery Center.
7. Call the officials in each organization and let them know your opinion.

My wife and I cannot in good conscience, support, or receive treatment in a facility where our Christian values would need to be compromised. Regardless of the call by some timid souls to make this protest dignified, no pastor, priest, or bishop, can justify tolerance in the face of an action that is so blatantly against Gods creation. To do nothing is simply - aiding and abetting the enemy!
The floods of change America so desperately needs can only sweep across our land, if many droplets, together, form a bond of strength and purpose. Avalanches and flash floods occur instantaneously, but they developed over time, as many flakes of snow, or drops of rain, came together one at a time.
Please unite with many other pro-life people in our area and put an end to killing pre-born children by these hospitals. You are not asked to do anything illegal, or non-Christian, but to protest this sinful, barbaric act, by eliminating the money source to these hospitals. I ask that you do, as Sue and I, and many others have done who are willing to inconvenience their lives in a simple but effective way to stop the killing. God will surely bless you for your courage!
What Some People Have Done
WorldNetDaily.com – Building Contractors Boycott Planned Parenthood
Building contractors in Austin, Texas, have organized a city-wide boycott to prevent construction of a Planned Parenthood clinic that will perform abortions. The builders want to make sure concrete, building materials and workers are not available to erect the $6.2 million facility, planned for a site south of downtown where the project is scheduled to break ground today, the Associated Press reported. "We're going to do everything we can to stop it, slow it down and make it more expensive," said Chris Danze, an Austin concrete contractor, according to the AP. Danze, chairman of the Austin Area Pro-Life Concrete Contractors and Suppliers Association, said every concrete supplier within 60 miles of Austin is on board with the boycott.
The facility is scheduled to open by fall 2004, the AP said. Planned Parenthood of the Texas Capital Region currently does not perform abortions in the Austin area. Spokeswoman Danielle Tierney dismissed the boycott's impact. "Our plans are underway and we have a great deal of support from our community," she said, according to the AP. "Tactics like this sometimes come with the territory."
WorldNetDaily.com – Building Contractor Issued a Warning A company building a major abortion structure in Denver has been warned by a national paving coalition to break off work, or else "hundreds of companies will begin collaborating against The Weitz Co." The warning comes from V.P. for the coalition of 1-800-ASPHALT, which reports having contractors in 44 states.
At issue is the work Weitz is doing for Planned Parenthood in the Denver area, where a new mega-clinic abortion facility is being developed. Because of the work, Will Duffy, a spokesman for the Collaborators Project, told World Net Daily that Weitz has been given a deadline to stop work, or be declared a "permanent collaborator." He said that would mean pro-lifers would expand the targets of their protests, now focusing on abortion businesses and abortionists' homes, to include "residential picketing of executives and business sites of any organization designated with Permanent Collaborator Status."
"I strongly urge you to reconsider building this abortion clinic,” said Duffy. “It has been made clear to you that if you do not pull out of this project, we are prepared to begin protesting your business offices, work sites, and homes for as long as Planned Parenthood is doing business in the building you are preparing. Is the money you are making enough to justify what could be 10, 20, even 30 years of protests at your business sites? Is it enough to justify having these people protesting your home on every major holiday? Is it enough to justify having the Weitz company name and even your own names linked forever with child killing?”
"We have been busy building this network for 10 years and are growing at a record pace. How many more businessmen across the country, like me, will stand up to be counted? Maybe worse for you would be the people will not speak out publicly but privately protest your company by steering contracts away from you and doing their part by secretly protesting. There are business owners meeting in Indianapolis to determine what to do if you earn Permanent Collaborators Status. It is likely, protesters may show up at your home if you hire, or work for, the Weitz Company.” Many of the most aggressive anti-abortion protest organizations have committed to the long-term protest of the homes of Weitz clients and subcontractors, for as many years as Planned Parenthood is doing abortions at the clinic built for that purpose by Weitz.
The American Life League also has endorsed the plan. Flip Benham, of Operation Rescue/Operation Save America, also noted that "battle-hardened street protesters" from all around the nation have joined in the fight to continue the protests. "Weitz' clients homes will be a significant part of our effort," he said.
Rockford Register Star – Citizens File Lawsuit A group of residents that is suing the city for pulling its anti-abortion message off a bus bench two years ago has expanded its lawsuit to include further allegations stemming from the group’s activities outside an abortion clinic. The group filed an amended complaint in Rockford’s federal court, adding the owner of the building in the 1400 block of Broadway that houses the clinic, and a neighbor of the clinic.
The complaint now also alleges that the city fails to protect members of the group when it meets outside the clinic to protest, pray and attempt to convince women to not have abortions. The lawsuit alleges that Webster and Sterkeson threaten the protesters, and the city does nothing to protect the protesters’ rights to free speech.
Last week City Legal Director Patrick Hayes said, “The city is very serious about First Amendment protections and reacts quickly when those rights are threatened.” Members of the anti-abortion group, who placed an anti-abortion advertisement on a Rockford bus stop bench in 2005, say the city violated their First Amendment rights when it forced Wright Advertising to drop the ad in the middle of a one-year contract.
